[LIVE] Building Emotional Insight: Understanding the Importance of Emotions, Strength & Empathy
When
Asia/Singapore
Event Tag
Building emotional intelligence (also referred to as EQ) is a critical component within Emotional Insight. Research states that a high EQ has multiple benefits for both students and educators.
Insight refers to the ability to know your emotions and how they affect your thoughts and actions. Gaining insight is an important skill for building self-confidence, self-awareness, and empathy for others. Developing insight also focuses on identifying and applying personal strengths. Finally, insight helps adults and students value how others feel and think differently from themselves (perspective-taking).
In this workshop, participants will learn the difference between emotions and feelings and be provided activities and strategies to increase their emotional literacy. A second critical component within Emotional Insight is identifying and utilizing one’s personal strengths. Participants will take a Strengths Screener to help identify their personal strengths and how to use strengths in our teaching and learning environments. Additionally, emotional awareness development strengthens empathy and connections with others. Together we will engage in activities and discussions to foster both adult and student empathy skills and approaches to learning.
