[LIVE] Developing Partners for Student Success: Essentials of Family Engagement
When
Asia/Singapore
Event Tag
Research supports that family engagement in schools contribute to children’s academic and social success. Despite this knowledge, teachers and schools continue to struggle with ways to effectively engage all groups of parents/families in the education of their children. Additionally, educators need to be mindful and responsive in the way they communicate with parents/families. While there is not a one-size fits all approach to parent/family engagement, it is essential to build a toolbox of strategies to support this work within schools.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn key communication strategies that can be applied in building rapport, de-escalating an angry or agitated parent, and collaborating from a strengths-based perspective. In addition, participants will have multiple opportunities to discuss and brainstorm various family engagement experiences and opportunities to apply strategies discussed.
