Provocation is an important aspects of the Reggio Emilia Approach to a child center education. It comes in many forms. Provocations, by nature tend to provoke thoughts, ideas, and actions. Yes, it may seem obvious but what is it? How does it look in the early years? This workshop will explore ways to provoke thoughts, ideas, and actions in young children to help them expand their thought into a project, idea or an interest for further research. This workshop is an introduction to using Provocation in the early children’s program.
Objectives
Participants will learn:
- What is provocation
- The difference between a learning invitation and a learning provocation
- Ways to use invitations and provocations as gifts to promote learning.

Day 2: Improving and making the teaching process
- Ball Toss – high-quality back-and-forth interactions
- Using quality strategies to develop learner dispositions
- Using Provocation a primer for active learning
- Using Provocation in your setting, where do you start?

Methodology
This workshop will offer varieties of opportunities for experiential and collaborative learning. Participants will have the opportunity and are expected to be active participants in the discussion, both within the small and large group formats; reflecting on their own journey and learning in a supportive environment that allow them to gain practical knowledge that can be applied to teaching practices.

Early years teachers, curriculum coordinator, parent educator and administrators of program for children aged 2 to 8 years.
